THE Dordogne waste authorities are to make available around two million paper bags for people to place used face masks, gloves and tissues in.
From 10 August the Syndicat mixte départemental des déchets de la Dordogne (SMD3) will provide local déchetteries, except those in Périgord Noir in the south of the département, with the paper bags that people can go and collect when open.
The move has been taken in an attempt to stop people littering the area with used masks and other items, reducing the risk of coronavirus being spread through people's unwillingness to act responsibly.
The paper bags containing the used items can then be put in black bin bags and these can then be placed in the large rubbish containers.
Used face masks, gloves and tissues should not be placed in the yellow recycling containers.
