THERE will be no turning back on the decision to reduce the speed limit from 90 km/h to 80 km/h on routes départementales in France.
Prime minister, Édouard Philippe, has faced down opposition including from local councillors, and said that the new speed limit will come into force from 1 July.
He went on to say that it is impossible to have a speed limit of 80 km/h and at the same time say it is fine to drive at 90 km/h, and Édouard Philippe said he was willing to shoulder the responsibility of the new rules.
