Villefranche-du-Périgord and local bastides to celebrate their long, long history

IT is a few months off, but one to consider if you have friends visiting this year, as Villefranche-du-Périgord and other bastides in the region celebrate their long history.

La Depeche reports that from 29 September to 1 October, Villefranche will join Monpazier, Monflanquin and Villeréal in marking the history of the villages but also their futures.

Talks will take place on how the bastides formed, tracing their origins to the Hundred Years' War, but also performers and artists will take visitors back to the days of the 13th Century.

More information will be published closer to the date, but for lovers of local history and tales of the bastides, it is one to make a note of in your diary.
