Other finds included a marble statue of Neptune, dated to the third century, as well as two smaller, bronze statues.
These and the story of 20 years of exploration undertaken by divers in the river is on display at the Louvre, in an exhibition titled Arles, les fouilles du Rhône. Un fleuve pour mémoire.
Visitors will be able to learn more about the importance in Roman times of Arles, as well as see various items of silverwork, bronze helmets, jewellery and more.
The exhibition runs from from March 9 to June 25, 2012.
