THERE is still no news of SeaFrance resuming crossings between Dover and Calais on the company website.
The next key date is December 12, for the receipt of bids from those interested in running the operation.
In the meantime DFDS Seaways has added a fourth ship to its Dover to Dunkirk service in an attempt to accommodate passengers travelling between the UK and France.
DFDS Seaways has said that waiting times have extended on its crossings so they have chartered the Norman Spirit from LD Lines, which has capacity for 1,850 passengers, 250 cars and 75 lorries.
The additional ship will allow DFDS Seaways to increase sailings from a departure every other hour to departures every 1½ hours.
P&O Ferries has also increased capacity on its Dover to Calais service, resulting in six ships now operating that between them can make up to 60 crossings a day.
