THE number of people out of work in France now stands at 2,756,500, up 1.3% in July and over the past year the number has increased by 2.8%.
The unemployment figure is at an 11 year high, with the government saying that with near zero growth in the economy it was expected, although employment minister Xavier Bertrand said he believes that employment prospects in the near future will improve.
With consumer spending down, and the government announcing an €11 billion austerity package for next year, you do wonder where the new jobs will come from.
