A NEW rail operator could soon be offering services between the UK and France, putting Eurostar under pressure on the link beneath the Channel.
The Independent newspaper reports upon a potential tie-up between French environment company Veolia and the Italian state railway, who say they will provide a low-cost rail service within two years.
The high speed service would offer tickets at 50 per cent less than those currently available and open up the Chunnel link to competition.
