Le Pays des Bastides vu du Ciel offers up 40 large images of the towns and villages of the region taken from above, offering a very different perspective of the streets and alleyways.
You can easily see the grid layout of villages, but also the rich landscape of the region as well as examples of the architectural heritage that draws many visitors each year.
The large photographic posters will be placed in village squares over the coming weeks, with explanatory texts offering a little background on the project.
The tour will visit:
Villefranche-du-Périgord – June 5 to 28
Eymet – June 29 to July 12
Issigeac – July 13 to 23
Beaumont-du-Périgord – July 24 to August 4
Le Buisson-de-Cadouin – August 5 to 16
Lalinde – August 17 to 27
Trémolat – August 28 to September 9

Périgord is far from being the only "pays des Bastides" - a type of town which is widespread through the south-west. The area where I live, too, is full of these fascinating towns, the first (I gather) to emerge from deliberate town planning in the western world.
Part of the charm, though, is that they remain (unlike some in the Dordogne) relatively quiet, uncommercialised, unspoilt, clean, uncluttered and free to park in.
Just for the people on here, I'll tell you where it is. But don't tell too many other folk, please!!!
Try a little visit to the Lomagne.
