THE opportunity to work in France for the summer months draws many young people to the country.
But it is not all that easy to track down opportunities, unless you already know someone or are able to undertake a search once in France.
That's where the Eurosummerjobs website comes in, backed by the EU it draws together employments opportunities from across Europe, including many from France.
I must admit it is not the prettiest, or easiest to use website but there are many opportunities available, you might just have to take some time searching.
There are around 100,00 vacancies available in France for the coming summer months which cover a wide range of occupations and include permanent and seasonal job opportunities.
There is both an English language version and a French one, so it might prove useful to undertake searches in each one, you can also narrow down a search by region.
One thing I did find when running a test enquiry was to increase the number of days since a job was added to the site, by default it offers three days, but few results were returned.
Also it is noted in the help section that because the service draws summer jobs from across Europe details such as type of contract, required experience and level of education etc. are translated into all EU languages, but this is not the case for the title and the text of the job notice.
A search using keywords in one language will therefore not necessarily call up all vacancies available in the database.
If, for example, you search using the word "waiter" as a keyword, you will probably not find the same notices that you would find searching with the French keyword "serveur".
The predefined categories under "profession", "experience required", "location" etc. do, however, cover all available language versions.
There is also some useful background information available as well, such as details on the paperwork required if you want to work, important if you are from outside the EU, and there are links to other websites offering summer jobs.

I will do my final French high school exames next year and need to practise very hard! Therefor I would rather not work on a campsite with f.i. Dutch tourists, I would be speaking Dutch or French too much! Merci for your tips. Pauline from Holland
