I AM a big fan of listening to and watching the news to improve your French, as well as to keep you in touch with what is going on in the country and further a field.
It is also useful for when you want to learn how to compose questions and answer others, although quiz shows are good for this as well, and ten minutes or so every day will really help.
A useful place to stop on the web is the radio service RFI which not only offers news from across France and around the world, but also provides a Journaux Français Facile, which is the news in clear and simple language.
You can listen to the morning and evening news bulletins, but also read a transcript of the programme, as well as take a short exercise that tests your understanding of a story.
And if you can't listen to the bulletin there are then you can download it in MP3 format and play it directly on your computer or copy it to a CD or your portable music player.
