GOOGLE recently launched a new service that you may want to investigate if you take online payments.
Some people currently use PayPal to receive money for a gite rental, it is especially useful if you have last minute availability, and Google Checkout is a similar service.
It has been available to US traders for some time, but has only just been opened up to websites taking payment in UK£s and is slightly different to PayPal.
Google Checkout stores a registered user's card details so that when a customer arrives at a site offering the payment option they only need to enter a username and password, instead of typing out a long card number, expiry date and security number.
As a seller if you offer the service then until the end of the year you won't pay any transaction fees and Google claim to have fraud prevention tools and technology that aims to reduce the incidence of card chargebacks.
And if you use Google's Adwords to advertise your holiday home on websites such as This French Life then you can add a small shopping cart logo to your advert, highlighting to customers that they can easily make online payments.
If anyone has added Google Checkout to their website please feel free to leave a comment so others can take a look.
