ONE of the problems of taking your computer to France is that if your keyboard is of a UK or US type then entering accents on letters can be a real challenge.
Trying to hold down three keys, in the right order and hoping you enter à or ê can soon tie your fingers up in knots.
But the Mophy Accents computer program offers a very neat way of ensuring your fingers don’t get cramp, allowing you to type quickly and easily.
Once installed on your computer you just type away and when you need to enter a character with an accent then you press the Alt Gr key, just to the right of your space bar.
At the same time press the letter e, or a, for example and a small window pops up that offers you the different characters available, pick the one required and continue typing away.
The characters available in French are:
a: à â æ
c: ç
e: é è ê ë
i: î ï
o: ô œ
u: ù û
You can use it when writing in Word or other word processors, as well as for online forms and in any other situation where you need to use accented characters.
The software allows you to insert characters in a number of other languages including Catàlan, Swedish and Spanish.
You are free to test Mophy Accents for 30 days and should you find it useful then you can purchase a copy for £9.80.
