IF you are scratching your head when it comes to understanding the French tax system, the Dordogne authorities are opening their doors once again.
Officials from the Direction des services fiscaux are to hold two English-language presentations, in the morning and afternoon, on May 5.
Each meeting will include presentations and information stands covering a wide range of topics with practical examples on how to complete your 2006 income tax return.
There will also be a description of the French tax system and many aspects of property ownership including acquisition, financing, inheritance, tax and gites.
This is the second series of events aimed at English-speaking homeowners in France and will be held in the pavillon culturel at the Chateau de Monbazillac, 7kms south of Bergerac.
The two sessions will start at 10am and 2.30pm, each lasting two hours, with refreshments served at the end of each meeting.
Also, during May, the Direction des services fiscaux will welcome English-speaking residents in the Dordogne to special tax offices in the Centres des impôts of a number of towns on the following dates:
Centre des impôts of Sarlat
Any day, from 8.30am to noon and from 1.30pm to 4pm.
Centre des impôts of Nontron
May 18, from 8.30am to noon and from 1.30pm to 4pm.
Centre des impôts of Ribérac
May 11 and 23 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Cité administrative of Périgueux
May 11 and 30 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Eymet Town Hall
May 18 from 1.30pm to 5pm.
