A FRENCH researcher is keen to explore the reasons behind why British people find the appeal of France so strong they are willing to leave everything behind.
Marie-Martine Gervais, researcher and doctor of economic science at the University Montesquieu Bordeaux IV, is looking for Brits to complete an online survey.
The survey, which is anonymous, is designed to be completed by British people who are not currently living in France but are thinking of making the move.
There are 33 questions and they cover everything from what type of work people may do in France to reasons behind picking a particular region.
“Studies of migration tend to look at the reasons for the migration of people already resident, which is something I have previously done,” Marie-Martine said.
“But I now want to go beyond this and study the motivations, before they settle in France, of British people who have decided to do so or who think that one day they might.”
French local authorities are interested in the survey’s findings and are therefore supporting it financially as is the house builders' association (UNCMI).
They believe the data gathered as a result of the survey will help them tailor their activities to provide a better service to British people coming to reside in France.
