HERE'S a handy website to keep all those addresses, emails and thoughts in one place whilst looking for French property.
Backpack is a site that allows you to create a simple online diary where you can make a note of website addresses, contact details and ideas on the internet.
You can gather together all your to-do lists, notes, files and photos in one place allowing you to access them from anywhere.
So for example, imagine you are checking over some websites for properties in France at a friend’s house and you see something that looks interesting.
Well instead of scribbling it down on a piece of paper, or sending yourself an email, you can go to the Backpack website, log in and enter what you have found.
You could put the website address, maybe even a picture of the property and write down your initial thoughts and questions.
Then when you get back home your page on Backpack is there with everything you wrote down at your friends.
Backpack offers a number of different services, but the basic one is free and is likely to be more than sufficient for someone looking for property in France.
The real beauty of this system is that you can take your Backpack with you when you head to France and start looking for a place for real.
If you are renting somewhere long term and have an internet connection then you can update your page very easily.
But even if you don’t have your computer you could log in to your Backpack account from an internet café or a via a friend’s PC, if you are visiting others at the same time, and update your pages with what you have found that day.
Then when back home everything you have discovered, thought about and promised to do is all in one place.
If you found this useful...
