THE price of gas in France is set to rise by 7 to 8 per cent later this year the Ministry of the Economy has said.
Ministry chief Thierry Breton, right, said the increase, which will come into effect on July 1, was due to the rising price of oil and an underestimate of conditions last year.
The price of gas for the 10 million consumers in France is revised every six months, but this is set to change to three months.
This will ensure increases are evened out over the year, instead of the announcement of sudden price hikes and the damaging effect this can have on public opinion.
