A THIRD of French homes are now on the internet, according to a recent government report.
The study, The Information Society in France in 2004, said that of these half were taking advantage of broadband access.
It also said that online shopping was increasingly popular as the amount spent had doubled over the past two years to €4.7 billion.
Wireless access was still low, but government services had now made around 90 percent of their public forms available on the web.
In comparison to other countries in Europe, France was around the average for the EU but behind Germany and Holland for home internet use.
