IF you have given your gîte a spring clean, have you been around your website with a mop and bucket as well?
Now is a good time to check over your website to make sure that it is showing your holiday home in the best light.
The first thing to do is to make sure that all your links are working correctly so that it is easy to get around the site.
Also what about putting some new photographs on the site?
Make sure that the dimensions for your portrait and landscape pics are consistent and that the file size is no larger than 30k.
Have you got a price list on the site and if so make sure it matches the one you are using this year? Now that would be embarrassing.
If you have already taken bookings and have a diary of available dates on the site again make sure they match.
Have you got new facilities in your gîte that you did not have last year? If so make sure they are highlighted on the site.
If you have descriptions of local villages and places of interest have they got new events and shows that you could feature?
Also if you link off to sites from your own, make sure that the link is still going through to the page you want.
Contact details should be double-checked and test out any email addresses and forms on the site, you don’t want to be missing any bookings.
Cast a critical eye over your site, ask friends to browse it and use this feedback to make changes and develop ideas.
Before you know it your site will be clean and sparkling, just like the toilet bowl!
