DUE for release in the UK soon, Timeline is set in the Dordogne during the Hundred Years War.
Based on a Michael Crichton book the film tells how a group of archaeology students go back to the 14C to rescue their professor, Billy Connolly.
It’s intriguing to think of Billy Connolly as a time travelling professor, sucked back to the Middle Ages, and he wouldn’t look too out of place with his beard and wild hair.
Unfortunately the film was not filmed in the Dordogne as the area was deemed too modern and the early reviews from the US have not been very favourable.
…wasted is Connolly, the Scottish comedian, who gets stuck in the 14C and looks like he wants very badly to be somewhere—anywhere—else.
And I think we all remember this, hardly a glowing compliment.
…the generic costuming had me reminiscing about "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"; I kept expecting someone to run into the Knights Who Say "Ni”.
Maybe it was a stroke of good fortune that the film wasn’t shot in the Dordogne…
