This competition is a fundraiser for Pepi and his pals who live at Pepis Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville, Spain.
Pepis Dog Refuge was opened in 2005 by Jane and Alan Brian to care for the dogs abandoned by the local Spaniards. To date they have over 70 dogs and 18 puppies. They rely totally on donations and fundraising to cover the 700 euros/month to feed all the dogs, plus ongoing vet fees, tick and worm tablets.
As a way of expressing his emotions in dealing with the injured and sick dogs left at their gates, Alan Brian writes poetry, a selection of which is published in ‘It’s a Dog’s Life – Tails from Pepis Refuge’ available to buy on this link
