summary of what the Prime Minister announced Thursday evening.
The PM spoke from 6pm I was driving home. It took me a few minutes to find a radio station that was broadcasting him live (France Info was). Here is a summary of what he said. I'm doing this from memory so I hope I haven't forgotten anything. The Health Minister explained why the figures are not dropping - people not respecting the barrier measures AND climatic conditions. We have had a drop in temperatures and some damp weather. This has created an East West effect with the epidemic being worse in the East and some hospitals in the East having to transport sick people over to the west.
From Tuesday 15th
Attestations will no longer be needed and you will be able to travel between regions. BUT there will be a CURFEW from 8pm to 6am You MUST be at home by 8pm. There will be new attestations to cover the following situations - going home from work and going to work (you will also need paperwork to prove where you are working etc), Medical appointments and emergencies, serious family problems,. New attestations will be available to download or for the phone app before Tuesday evening.
The ONLY exception will be Christmas Eve. The curfew will be in place on New Year's Eve
For Christmas limit of 6 adults at the table for the Christmas dinner.
Social calls and popping in to neighbours' and friends' houses for apéro is NOT OK. We MUST reduce the number of contacts.
People who are going to eat with fragile or at risk people at Christmas should self isolate for 5 days before Christmas.
Museums, Cinemas, Theatres, Circuses, zoos etc WILL NOT OPEN from Tuesday. They may be allowed to open from 7th January but the situation will be reviewed before then.
Restaurants and bars are still programmed for opening from 20 Jan but again this will be reviewed early January.
Shops and shopping centres and supermarkets will have reinforced controls put into place by the Prefectures to ensure that they are respecting the barrier measures in place and correctly restricting the number of people present.
I thought I heard the PM say it was OK to take your dog out but just outside your own property after curfew , for a pee but Jean Louis doesn't remember this so I will check it out.
