'A reader has contacted us to report receiving a text this week from the UK government's DWP stating:“You will carry on getting your UK state pension when the UK leaves the EU on 31 October. Visit https://www.gov.uk/brexit-pensions to find out more.” He asked if it is genuine. We have checked with the DWP and they said it is, and they thought it was an appropriate way to get in touch with people to offer reassurance on this point. They say pensions will continue to be paid (though uprating is only guaranteed to 2022) and a spokesman told us they anticipate no problems with making payments into bank accounts of pensioners on the continent.
