THIS weekend sees many towns and villages across France raise funds for the Téléthon charity, with extensive coverage on television and radio as well.
Here in Villefranche-du-Périgord there will be a number of events starting on the morning of Saturday 3 December based around the foyer rural with cakes, fresh apple juice, games, pony rides and the chance to have your car cleaned by the village pompiers.
A walk has also been laid out that people can follow, as well as routes for cyclists and horse riders, each open to all comers for a small fee.
The French Muscular Dystrophy Association (AFM) organised the first Telethon in 1987 to fund innovative research programs.
