MP pushes for winter tyres to be obligatory in France

A PARLIAMENTARY member for the Lozère has put forward a proposal that all cars are equipped with winter tyres.

With the recent heavy snowfall, Pierre Morel-A-L'Huissier says France should follow similar regulations in place in Germany, Italy and Luxembourg.

The member of the UMP party says that vehicles should be equipped with the special tyres during the winter period covering mid-October to mid-March.

He also said that those on low incomes could receive support to pay for the tyres and that insurance companies could take into account the safety measures being taken by drivers.
