Population of France now stands at 62.7 million

THE population of mainland France is now 62,765,235 according to the latest figures from the statistics office, INSEE.

Figures for 2010 have been published and show that between 2006 and 2010 the population in France increased by 1.4 million.

INSEE goes on to say that much of the growth is being seen in small communes outside larger towns and cities, as people look to live in a place with more space yet within easy reach of employment and other services.
