The Association française de lutte contre les myopathie (AFM) had registered around €81 million in donations over Friday and Saturday.
But when compared to the same time in 2011, this figure is €5 million down, although people can still offer up a donation via the internet.
This year's amount is still up on the figure from 2010 when €60.6 million was raised, with the cash going towards research into muscular dystrophy and other illnesses.
Looking even further back, and pre-crisis, in 2002 the Telethon raised a record €91.5 million.
