Rodolfo Cázares - the story of France's eighth hostage

ONCE a week as the lunchtime news comes to an end on France 3 mention is made of seven French hostages currently being detained to ensure their story remains heard.

However, the story of an eighth hostage has received little coverage in the French media, until this week, when the kidnapping of Rodolfo Cázares, a Mexican born music conductor, will be raised before President Hollande.

In July 2011 Rodolfo Cázares was on holiday in Mexico visiting family with his French wife Ludivine when they were taken at gun point and held by members of a drug cartel.

Ludivine was released a few days later, but Rodolfo Cázares is still being held captive and despite a number of ransom demands being met he is still being kept from his family.

There has been no news of Rodolfo Cázares' condition, or even if he is still alive, and when the Mexican president-elect visits Francois Hollande this week it is hoped the story of France's eighth hostage will finally be heard.
