'Fukushima effect' joke slammed by Japan

THE Japanese government has criticised a joke on French television that featured a four-armed goalkeeper who had experienced the 'Fukushima effect'.

Chat show host, Laurent Ruquier, praised the actions of goalkeeper Eiii Kawashima after Japan beat France in a friendly match 1-0 by using an image featuring an additional pair of arms.

However, the Japanese Embassy sent a letter of complaint to France 2, saying that the remark "hurts the feelings of people affected by the disaster and hinders efforts for reconstruction".
