Spuds, spuds glorious spuds

Pommes de terre : des plants à l'assiette par cnipt
THE little old potato is proving a backstop for those struggling with the financial crisis as consumption of spuds has increased just over 11% in the first half of 2012.

Other reasons for the rise in popularity of the spud are a cool spring which prompted people to make hot meals, and that prices have fallen due to increased production.

Around 15kg of potatoes are eaten per person per year in France, with an average price of 84 centimes per kilo.
