Price of a packet of cigarettes rises 40 centimes

THE price of a packet of cigarettes in France is to increase by 40 centimes from October 1, the Ministry of Finance has announced.

The ministry said that this is an increase of around 6% on the average price of a packet of cigarettes and is being used to try and reduce the number of smokers in France.
