As number of property sales fall, agents predict price drops

AN absence of buyers, and a refusal by sellers to drop prices, has pushed the French property market into a state of stagnation say estate agents.

Le Parisien has spoken to those involved in the property industry and they have reported a fall in the number of transactions of up to 40%.

A few reasons have been blamed, including sellers refusing to drop prices and the availability of bank credit being tightened.

Agents are not predicting a price crash, but that a fall is likely as we run in to autumn, but much will depend upon whether sellers are prepared to tone down their demands.

Perhaps if French Agents had the sense to lower their commission, sellers would be more co-operative, & feel more able to lower the prices.

I agree with the above posting. The agents do not budge on their commission.

I have come across one exception - an Agent who was a breath of fresh air, reasonable, enthusiastic and open to negotiation.
