French taste for Scotch whisky on the rise

Whisky-france THE demand for Scotch whisky in France is on the rise according to recent figures, as drinkers look to enjoy a wee dram.

Figures from the Scotch Whisky Association show that the value of exports to France has increased, as well as to South Africa and Venezuela.

France is the number one market for Scotch whisky, with almost 127 million bottles sent across the Channel this year, a nine per cent increase on 2008.

Strange to think that the French drink more whisky than they do cognac. Even stranger to think that England has just produced its first whisky in 100 years - from a new distillery in Norfolk. But will it pass the true test - will the French drink it? Can't see it myself...

Are you sure it is the French drinking the Whiskey or the millions of brits over here, I know my husband can put away a fair bit.
