Air Passenger Duty set to rise for flights to France

Flght-screen THE UK government will increase Air Passenger Duty (APD) by £1 on November 1, adding to the cost of flights to France.

The increase will be levied on short-haul flights including those to Europe, pushing the tax up to £11 per person, while flights to destinations around the world will also rise.

The government has said APD is an environmental tax, although cargo flights and private jets don't pay the fee, with many airlines heavily critical of it.

And there is set to be a further increase in 12 months time.
