The Mini Coyote from France set to bust speed cameras

A DEVICE that French drivers have used for a number of years to alert each other of mobile speed cameras is gaining popularity in the UK.

The Telegraph reports that the Mini Coyote, manufactured by Coyote Systems, allows drivers to pinpoint cameras via satellite-positioning, with the information then passed on to other drivers.

The device also tells motorists the speed limit of the road they are currently on and warns them if they are driving too fast, and according to Mini Coyote the equipment is legal, although the director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety warned drivers could be prosecuted for perverting the course of justice.

There is an initial cost to buy the device and then a monthly fee, similar to a mobile phone contract, and in September there were close on 64,000 Mini Coyote's on the roads of France, with more than 20,000 mobile speed camera traps logged by drivers.
