Cornwall Newquay Airport operations temporarily closed

Newquay AirportI KNOW many people fly to Girona Airport in Spain to reach the south west and Pyrenean region of France, but if you were hoping to fly from Newquay Cornwall Airport this Christmas you may have to look elsewhere.

Due to a misunderstanding covering the handover of ownership from the RAF to Cornwall County Council, the airport will be closed from December 1 until December 20.

But Ryanair, operator of the route between Newquay and Girona, has said it has no confidence in the Council so has closed the service between December 1 and January 11, 2009.

The airline has said it will offer a refund to passengers who have booked tickets, or look to accommodate them on alternative flights from Bristol and Bournemouth.
