What's on in France in coming weeks

Millaujazz030506DESPITE grey skies and rainy days hopefully a taste of summer sunshine is just around the corner giving you a chance to get out and about.

Here are just a few exhibitions, festivals and events taking place across France and if you know of any others please feel free to add them via the comment section.

Salon d'Ete, La Galerie des Arts de Verteillac from June 7
The annual Salon d'Ete brings together the work of local artists from the Perigord and runs from June 7 until September 5. It is open every day with free entrance and the Bistrot Verticalle on the ground floor provides a place to enjoy a chat about the artwork.

Cézanne in summer, Aix en Provence, June until September
A series of events and exhibitions featuring Cézanne and his work, as well as those influenced by the artist synonymous with the colours and light of the region.

Jazz festival, Enghien les Bains, July 2 to 6
This lakeside spa resort on the outskirts of Paris, plays host to some 250 musicians and promises over 100 hours of live jazz, blues and swing.

Rock festival, Belfort, July 4 to 6
Les Eurockéennes is one of the liveliest events of the summer in France Comté, with bands from all over the continent playing in a lively programme that runs from hip-hop to reggae, classic rock to heavy metal.

Raspberry festival, Limousin, July 13
Every July, the tiny village of Concèze in the Limousin celebrates its greatest export - the humble raspberry. More than 6,000 people attend the fair to meet raspberry producers and tour stalls which sell an extraordinary diversity of products made from la framboise.

Millau en Jazz, July 12 - 19
Millau en Jazz is a relaxed spring jazz festival that takes place in different villages in the Regional Natural Park of Grands Causses. The event welcomes French and international jazz artists, who perform at indoor and outdoor venues in a number of small towns - Paulhe, Saint-Jean d'Alcapiès, Viala du Tarn and Sainte-Eulalie de Cernon.

Dressage Competition, Pompadour, Limousin, July
One of France's National stud farms, Pompadour, is famous for the breeding of Anglo-Arab horses. Throughout July a series of dressage competitions are held providing one of the highlights of the busy Limousin equestrian events calendar.
