Pope plans French visit for September
A VISIT by Pope Benedict XVI will take place in September when he will visit Lourdes to mark the 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous.
His visit will run from September 12 to 15 and he will arrive in Paris where he will perform a mass at Notre-Dame cathedral as well as meet the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy.
On September 13 he will head to Lourdes and on the following day, the Sunday, he will celebrate mass with the bishops of France on the field opposite the Grotte de Massabielles.
The Pape en France website has details of the visit which will be the first time Pope Benedict XVI has visited the country.
