Learning French slang

FrenchslangLEARNING to speak normal French can be tough enough, but trying to pick up colloquial phrases such as j'en ai marre can soon have you crying zut alors!

But the French Slang - Argot Français website may be able to help you out.

The site is actually based in Canada but don't let that put you off as there are some great lessons and examples of phrases that you can both read and listen to.

And it is the chance to be able to listen to sentences such as "Quel temps de chien! II tombe des cordes!" that means you can pick up pronunciation, which is often the most difficult thing with slang words.

Of course it is important to remember that some phrases shouldn't be used in polite company or amongst strangers, but if you say this about someone on the TV "il est moche à caler des roues de corbillard" then you are sure to raise a smile.

Craig,

looks like a lot of fun.

What is the English equivalent?

Cockney rhyming slang?
