YOU may have seen a news story recently about pianist Joyce Hatto, who died last year, but whose catalogue of music was plagiarised from other CDs.
The affair has been dubbed "Hattogate" and the music world has been stunned at the sheer range of music that was supposedly performed by Joyce Hatto, but may well have been nothing more than copies.
When Gramophone magazine first broke the story a few weeks ago they turned to a specialist audio recording business in the Dordogne to do the detective work.
Pristine Audio, which is run by Andrew Rose and offers classical music to download, has even set up a dedicated page so you can listen to a comparison of piano pieces, and hear little if any difference between them.
