New 'green' rules for property sales

Greenproperty061106FROM November 1 new rules covering the sale of a house in France have come into operation.

A report into a property's 'green' credentials has to be produced alongside the current requirements covering lead, asbestos and in some regions termites.

Susie Hollands, of Bonapart Consulting, has outlined the basic principles behind the new rules which measure the amount of energy a property uses and its impact on the environment.

The survey has to be undertaken by a registered professional, which the vendor pays for, and the report will assign each home with a colour-coded badge, similar to that used for kitchen equipment.
