Photofolies-en-Touraine, Loire. October
A biennial photography festival bringing together around 60 photographers from across Europe, exhibiting in 40 different venues. The official opening of the festival takes place on September 24 and it runs throughout October until early November.

Music of Mozart, Vitteaux, Cote d’Or. October 7
Marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of Mozart a performance of Cosi Fan Tutte will take place in the gymnase at Vitteaux.

The event brings together young prize winning musicians from Europe, China and Canada under the direction of Stanley Dodds, a celebrated violinist with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and accompanied by the Berlin Sibelius Orchestra.

Fête de la Crevette, Honfleur. September 30 and October 1
Honfleur celebrates the little grey shrimp, la petite grise, which is a local speciality. This small crustacean was an obvious choice as the symbol for an event which celebrates the maritime history of Honfleur: la Fête de la crevette with its concerts of sea shanties, shrimp peeling competition, stands, gathering of old sea vessels.

Journées des Plantes, Ile de France, October 15-17
The famous flower show at the Domaine de Courson is a must for garden lovers. Visitors can buy plants direct from some 250 exhibitors from across Europe.
Take the RER line C from central Paris to Breuillet-Bruyères-le-Châtel and pick up the Courson shuttle bus.
