If you've visited Parthenay in recent months, you will have seen a multitude of posters around the town claiming 'En 2012 On y Sera!' So, what's it all about?
The first mention of Parthenay is recorded in a manuscript 'Le Conventum' preserved in the National Library of France, which proves that the Chateau in the town existed arund 1012.
So the town decided to celebrate this anniversary by putting on a series of events throughout the year, including La Milléscénie, a weekend of celebrations involving hundreds of local people, both performing and behind the scenes.
Le Grand Spectacle Nocturne will tell the story of Parthenay throughout the centuries, all performed below the Chateau beside the River Thouet, finishing with a firework display.
